JAMB: How To Calculate 2017 JAMB Admission Points

The JAMB Admission Point System,
introduced in 2016 by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has
been widely used as a determinant for Admission into
Tertiary Institutions in the Country.

See How To Calculate JAMB Points below…

Overtime, higher institutions in the country used the Post UTME
Screening exams to determine who gets admitted until the
introduction of the new JAMB Admission Point System.

Candidate who are seeking admission into tertiary institutions in
Nigeria are advised to carefully study the new point systems
carefully as this new system is being used to replace Post UTME
screening exercise.

How To Calculate JAMB Admission Point

The New JAMB Point System is calculated using the candidates O'level
result and UTME score.

Phase 1: JAMB Point For O'level:
Note the Following:
JAMB point for 1 sitting in WAEC/NECO/GCE is Ten (10)
While The JAMB point for 2 sitting is Two(2).
This means candidates who passed their WAEC or NECO once without
combining results have 10 points and also have a better
chance of admission.

JAMB Point for O'level Grades
A (A1) = 6 marks,
B (B1, B2, B3) = 4 marks
C (C4, C5, C6) = 3 marks

Sum Up ALL the Points for your O'Level result and State the Total

Next: Add the Total to the Merit Points. For one Sitting, 10 Points or
Two Sittings, 2 points

Phase 2: JAMB Point For UTME
The final criteria is your UTME score. The scores are divided into
ranges and each ranges are assigned with points that will be
using to offer admission. The ranges are;
180-200= 20-23 points,
200-250= 24-33 points,
251-300= 34-43 points
300-400= 44-60 points

Note: Each range in the categories above contains five JAMB results per point.
For example a candidate with 180-185 gets 20 points, while a candidate
with 186-190
gets 21 points.

Phase 3: Final Stage/ Grand Total
Add the Following:
UTME Points + O'Level Points + Merit Point = JAMB Admission Points

Hope This Helps! Any Difficulties?
